fluoride

If you are in regular need of fillings or if root caries (decay in the root of the tooth which occurs when the gums have receded due to gum disease and the root has been exposed) is a problem, it may be worth considering a fluoride rinse or gel. Fluoride strengthens teeth as they grow in the jaw and, when they appear in the mouth it helps strengthen the enamel, that covers the tooth, making teeth more resistant to decay.

A powerful cavity-fighting agent, fluoride is a natural substance like iron or calcium which enhances the remineralisation process of the enamel and makes tooth surfaces more resistant to acid erosion.

Before considering additional fluoride treatments, over and above using fluoride toothpaste, consult your dentist or hygenist.
